Promo Codes provides you with a way to give your customers discounts or free shipping on orders by applying a code at checkout.

Note: Any changes made to the Promo Code screen require you to click the Save button to commit any changes to the system. This is true for all fields, enable/disable, and delete function.

Code

In the Code field enter the name to be used for the promo code. This will be the Code your customers enter at checkout to receive the discount.

Code Type

• Coupon/Promo Code - This will be used when giving a discount on an order.
• Free Shipping - This is used to give free shipping on the order.

Discount

There are two options for discounting an order when Coupon/Promo Code is selected as the Code Type. 

• $ Amount - The dollar amount the customer will receive off the total order.
• % Amount - The percentage the customer will receive off the total order.

Uses per User

You will need to determine how many times a customer can use a promo code. 

• Unlimited - The system will default to unlimited. This allows customers to use the code as many times as they want. 
• Number of uses - Choose 1 to 100 uses per user.
  • Example - If you only want a customer to use the 50% off coupon once, then choose 1.

Note: Uses per User only applies to Store Users set up in the Users > Manage Store Users screen. If your store allows Guest Checkout and they are provided with an active Promo Code that is set up with Use per User, it will not apply to guest checkout. Guest checkout customers will be allowed to use that promo code as many times as they want.

Expiration

This option allows you to choose if a promo code will have an expiration date.

• No Expiration - This is the default. If no date is entered, then the promo code will not expire and will be valid to use until it is Disabled.
• Expiration Date - Add a date to this field if you need the promo code to expire after a certain period of time.
  • Example - If you are providing a promo code for the holidays, you can Enable it on 12/1 and set it to expire 12/31 making it only useable during the month of December.

Action

• Enable/Disable - This toggle allows you to turn on = Enable, or turn off = Disable the promo code. 
• Delete - This action removes the promo code from the UI, but it is still in the system. It is kept in the system for reference for already existing orders.

Note: If you disable a promo code that has a Uses per User limit and later re-enable it, the usage count does not reset. To start fresh, you'll need to create a new promo code.
