Overview
Minimum quantities can be assigned to a product in pop-ups. This feature differs from Company Stores as the threshold set is for the store, not the order.
As Pop-Ups is designed as an order collection platform. This means that the orders are not fully processed until store close, and the products themselves are rarely ordered ahead of time. Order minimums can assist the Client in ensuring that they are meeting the Vendor minimum or Customer determined minimum for a product or store.
How to set minimum quantities
Order minimum is defaulted to “0” on product creation.
To add an order minimum to a new or existing product:
1. From Step 4 of the store build, select the product you’d like to assign a minimum quantity to by selecting “Details” on an existing product, and then “Edit this Item”. If this is a new product you will follow the normal product creation steps.
2. When in the item, set the minimum quantity field to the required amount.
-
- Note that hovering over the question mark will also provide information on how the minimum order quantity works in Pop-Ups
- Once the minimum order is set and the rest of the product is complete, select “continue” at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to a preview of your product and what the customer will see. Once satisfied, select “save and continue”.
What happens when the minimum is not met?
When a store closes and the minimum quantity is not met, for example:
The ABC123 store was selling Stanley cups, but they need a total of 250 across all orders so they can meet the Vendor minimum. However, the total quantity ordered for this item was only 175.
When the minimum quantity is set and NOT met at store close, any orders with this item will receive an email letting them know the order minimum was not met for the store and that the specific product on their order has been cancelled.
If the order contained other items, they will remain on the order, at store close the new total minus the cancelled item will be charged to the card.
As this happens when the store closes, and the cards are only validated up until this point and no funds have been collected, there is nothing that needs to be done on the back end or cc processor to accommodate for refunds etc.
Note:
If the customer is willing to supplement to reach the order minimum (purchasing extras to meet the minimum), do not use this feature as it automatically cancels the items on store close. There is no way to prevent this.
