Use product categories to organize the products in your store. You can group similar products together to make the shopping experience easier for your customer. Think of product categories as "menu" items on the storefront, as shown in #4 below. A user can click on Apparel to see all of the different apparel items offered on the store.

- Structure - this is where you will define how you want to organize the products on your store.
- Settings - this is where you can limit product visibility to certain groups. the default for all products is public visibility, so you only need to make changes here if you want to limit visibility.
- Organize - this is where you will assign your products to the different categories. You can add any product to multiple categories.
Structure
On this tab, you will define how you want to organize the products that are on your store.

3 | Click here to add a category. You will add products to the subcategories in a later step under the Organize tab. |

Click on a category name to open the subcategories screen where you can add subcategories. Categories can also have sub-categories. For example, the Apparel category might have subcategories for hats, t-shirts, and jackets. When a user clicks on a category, they will see products you have assigned through Product Categories. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you reorganize your categories, you must go to Store Level > Design > Pages and click Update Store in the Home Page block in order for them to apply on the storefront. Settings
On this tab, you will select a category from the first field, then choose options for the selected category.
Make changes here if you want certain products to only be visible to a specific group of users, or if you want to require users to enter a password to view a product.
The default for all products is public visibility, so you only need to make changes here if you want to limit visibility.

2 | Product/Category Visibility User Grouping: Select who will be able to see a category on the storefront. For example, you may have certain items that only managers can purchase. |

Category Security: You can add a password to a category that users would need to enter to view a category whether it is visible or not. Passwords requirements and validation will appear on screen to help you create a strong password. |
4 | Search Engine Optimization: Enter SEO data if desired. |
Organize
On this tab, you will assign products to different categories.
You can assign a product to multiple categories.
Remember to click Add selected products when you are finished making your selections.
1 | Assigned and Unassigned indicates whether or not a category has products assigned. |
2 | Click the tag icon to assign products to a category or to see what products are assigned. Assigned products are indicated with a checkmark in the upper right corner of the product image, or in the far-left column in grid view. |
